By the moment of his death, Napoleon Hill would have got married at least 5 times. However the most relevant according to his biography are the below three spouse, who are the ones of whom we have documentation.
Florence Elizabeth Hornor (1888-1976).
Florence got married to Napoleon Hill in 1910. She would be known as the first Napoleon Hill spouse, with whom she had three children. Those are James, David and Blair (his deaf son).
His marriage with Florence was very difficult because during this period Napoleon Hill experienced very financially difficult times. He moved his family across the US looking for fortune, bankruptcy after bankruptcy.
Florence was a wife coming from a wealthy family. That would not be important to mention, except for the fact that there were periods in which the couple had to turn towards her family for financial help.
Those were the years in which Napoleon Hill managed to publish his first successful book, The Law of success (1928).
After a period of prosperity, the Great Depression made Napoleon poor again, which surely accelerated his divorce in 1935.
Rosa Lee Beeland (1905 – 1970)
Rosa got married to Napoleon Hill at the age of 29, in 1936. The fact that little time had elapsed since his divorce made some people think Rosa was the real reason behind it.
Rosa admired Napoleon and his work. In fact Rosa was also a writer and a young person with lots of ideas and motivation. This is the reason why they both signed a prenup before writing Think and Grow Rich.
Rosa would work as Napoleon’s editor and in exchange she would hold 50% of the income. It is for this reason that Think and Grow Rich was a much better book than The Law of success. Rosa was much better at writing than Napoleon Hill.
After the couple divorced in 1940, Rosa Lee Beeland would keep on writing self-help books. Her most famous one was “How To Attract Men and Money. An intimate revelation for Women past eighteen”.
Napoleon Hill would try some marriages of which we don’t know much. They could be wives, consorts or just partners who never made it to bride. The reality is there is not too much documentation about these relationships for they were very short. Probably, Napoleon was just avoiding solitude or in need of some money after his divorce brought him financial difficulties.
Annie Lou Norman (1894 – 1984).
In 1943 Napoleon Hill married his friend Annie Norman, with whom he moved to California and started working as a lecturer. Annie would be the last Napoleon Hill spouse and the one who would be there when the final day would come.
During those years, Napoleon Hill was an old man. He had already recovered financially, and his way of life was much more sustainable.
