Think and Grow Rich Author’s preface is short introduction by Napoleon Hill in which he tells the reader what he is going to find in the book.
Andrew Carnegie’s secret is for all those who are ready for it and are determined; which implies you know what you want. This is very important for self-determination and is a principle which has been admitted by many men over time.
The hidden secret, which is present at least once in every chapter, is based on the fact that there is no such thing as something for nothing and it is said to be applicable to all those who follow Carnegie’s instructions.
The secret refers to human nature. In most cases, the main reason of failure has to do with giving up due to a lack of faith when encountering temporary defeat.
Think and Grow Rich Author’s preface: Explained
Carnegie’s secret is about reprogramming your own mind and saturate it with faith and perseverance to overcome temporary defeat.
Quitting is instinctive to Man. In fact, in the animal world, trying and failing is very dangerous: you can die. This is why quitting has been produced as a result of natural selection to ensure the persistence of Man.
However, in our human world, quitting should not be considered as a means of self-defence but a barrier which stops us from achieving our goals. In our society, trying again and again when encountering temporary defeat doesn’t imply death. You just can try again! That is why you will need to develop self-confidence.
At the same time, the mind of any businessman must work around a principle which is introduced here for the first time : there is no such thing as something for nothing. It is very important that you quickly accept that you have to give something before asking society for anything. And the order is very important as well : you first give and then you receive.
